Safety Tips

There is nothing quite like the feeling us standing outside on the patio in the warm summer air and grilling up some food. It could be chicken, fish, steak, burgers, or anything you fancy. However, one false move and you could find yourself going to the hospital instead of enjoying the rest of your evening. For that, we have some safety tips for you to consider. These are not optional if you want to stay and be the life of the party.

  1. Follow the Instructions – From the minute you get your grill, it is important that you follow the instructions. Often times, people think that they can assemble the grill by themselves with no instructions. Then at the end, they have a handful of leftover parts. They think, oh maybe they gave me some extra in case I dropped one. In most cases, this is not true. While some manufacturers will provide you with a couple of spare parts for just such an occasion, but the box, bag, or envelope will be clearly marked as such. If you don’t see that, you are holding parts that could be vital to your safety. Also, make sure you heed the warning on placement and care for your grill.
  2. Placement – Speaking of placement, when you store your grill between uses, make certain that it is in a place that it will not be knocked over or damaged in any way. When using it, make sure that you are at least 5 feet away from anything so as to not inadvertently catch fire to something. You may not be injured, but a house, garage, or wildfire would sure put a damper on the festivities.
  3. Lighting – We are not talking about lighting so that you can see, we are talking about igniting the fire. When lighting your grill, it is important that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Many people will attempt to light the barbecue only to find it won’t light after a minute or two. Make sure that before you make another attempt that you give it at least 30 minutes. Propane is heavier than air and has a way of lingering. If you were to come out and try to start it with a match instead of the electronic ignition, you could unintentionally cause a small explosion.

Conclusion

There are so many people that barbecue in the summer, Bottini Fuel just wanted to make sure that you all get through it safely. The most important thing when summer grilling is to follow all the instructions. They are there for a reason and they are not optional.
